Two Extremes

I can get so unpredictable sometimes, i guess i don't really know myself that well afterall.
This week has been bad bad bad. I hit the gym only ONCE, ran only 3 pathetic km, and the icing on the cake? i pigged out like there was no tomorrow.
Today, i had noodles for lunch
For dinner, i had macdonalds (cheeseburger, fries, chicken wings) That coming from me? Yeah, you might probably think i'm out of my mind. I think i am too
And i had supper.

HOHO.
Thing is, my metabolism is really weird too. It swings from left to right, up and down. I'm quite sure i can gain 2 kg in a day, and i'm also quite sure i can lose 2 kg in maybe 1 week, if i run and run and run.

Sigh.
Must be PMS.
I must get myself some primrose pills. I heard they can get rid of PMS (read: insane cravings, bloatedness, cramps)

I think i need to go shopping tomorrow

ps: Bangkok beckons next month! WHEE!!!!! I'm excited.

I better go shower now

Blisters & Shoes

My favourite pair of heels gave me blisters again when i was out with old time friend Weili.
I don't believe this. I've worn it for so many times, and i still get shitty boils on my heels.
You know there's this old granny's saying that the first time you buy your shoe, you should bite it to sorta 'season' it. Eeyew i say.

So, thanks to good old google, i've managed to find several solutions.

1. lubricate your shoes. They suggest petroleum jelly? (haha. dual purpose), but i say use lip balm
2. paste band aid over the blister (trust me, it will come off. shitty band aid), i suggest pasting band-aid on your shoes where u kenna that blister
3. soak your feet in teabags + water, so the skin gets tougher. what stupid crap is this?
4. Don't wear that pair of shoe. Simple as that.

So, in a bid to save my tiny toes, and blistering heel, i got myself a pair of havainas (although i already own one). Brown colour this time. Nothing fancy.

I'm getting really practical ain't i?

Now that we're on the topic of shoes, allow me to rant abit about this new and 'intricately designed' shoes, Crocs.
How many of you would buy them? I wouldn't. For one, it costs like 50 bucks for a pair. Tacky colours, shoes with many holes, feet confirm wet on rainy days. For another, the design couldn't get any worst. Thats ergonomics for you.

Let's say, your bf/gf bought you a pair of crocs for your bday. what do you do?

1. Wear them as bedroom slippers.
2. Lie to them, tell them u really like it, but your mom likes it even more, so you gave it to her.
3. Tell him/her you can't bear to wear them, so you're keeping it in your wardrobe.
4. Tell him/her straight into his/her face that they have extremely bad taste, they don't know your taste, following which, break up with them, and throw the pair of crocs into their face.

I'm just bullshitting.
But here's a fact: crocs provides the comfort my stinking heels couldn't. =(

Blogs are stupid

I don't wish to post anything too personal on this blog anymore
Somehow, you can't be too candid and truthful whenyou know many ppl are reading.
Don't expect me to talk about how i feel, how i'm coping in life blah blah.
You know i won't really talk too indepth about all these stuff.
That is because, i'm back to writing my good ol' trusty diary.
A new one that is.

Here's one last confession:

Despite living this me-and-only-me life, it hasn't exactly been that fufilling.
I do feel empty at times.

okay STOPPPP. damn stupid hormones!

Of IJ & Uniform

Just a gentle reminder:

***I would really appreciate if i could get my KC uniform back ASAP. It's been too long.

wah, bold and large fonts. Not that gentle afterall huh?

SPH incurred the wrath of IJ girls

Sunday Times article tarnished our image: CHIJ chairperson
Ansley Ng
ansley@newstoday.com.sg

"ELEVEN convent schools in Singapore have threatened legal action against Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) for an article that allegedly defamed convent schoolgirls.
.
Today has learnt that a lawyer's letter has been sent to the media company on Monday, demanding an apology and costs and damages to be paid for a "defamatory" article that was published in last week's Sunday Times, which described convent girls as being "easy" with members of the opposite sex.
.
Three days ago, The Sunday Times, the weekend edition of The Straits Times, published a story titled "Singapore A-Z … once more, with feeling", a "tongue in cheek" look at Singapore icons and subjects which coincided with the recently-launched Singapore — the Encyclopaedia.
.
Under the alphabet "I", the newspaper ran a short description of "IJ girls", term for girls who study in CHIJ (Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus) Catholic mission schools.
.
"'IJ girls' is a generalisation for girls who study in CHIJ schools and who like to hem their school uniforms real short, wear their belts real low on their hips, and are allegedly easy when it comes to the opposite sex," a paragraph read.
.
A cartoon above the paragraph also showed a girl in blue lighting up a cigarette.
.
"Singaporeans perusing our pages should note that this is done in tongue-in-cheek," one part of the article read.
.
According to sources, a letter of demand was sent to SPH on Monday, asking for an apology to be published in this weekend's edition of The Sunday Times.
.
It also demanded that costs and damages to be paid to the Infant Jesus Board of Management, which manages the 11 schools.
.
The board comprises 14 members, including two nuns, eight former students and four men, who are linked to the schools.
.
The story upset many alumni and parents and the board members were believed to have received more than 50 phone calls and email messages of complaint between them.
.
Yesterday, The Straits Times letters pages published a letter written by Donne Marie Aeria — the board's chairperson — rebutting the story.
.
Ms Aeria called the article "an ill-conceived idea and done in bad taste".
.
"Was there a need to tarnish the image of thousands of students, past, present and future, including girls as young as six years old in Primary 1, with an image that they are 'allegedly easy when it comes to the opposite sex'?" Ms Aeria wrote.
.
"It has caused much distress, pain and embarrassment to ladies of all ages, that hail from our CHIJ schools."
.
There are currently about 16,000 girls studying in the 11 primary and secondary CHIJ schools.
.
SPH declined to comment when contacted.
.
Aljunied GRC MP Cynthia Phua, who studied in CHIJ Secondary School (Toa Payoh), called the generalisation "insensitive".
.
"Eleven schools are all wearing the same uniform. It's too much if you see one case and generalise," said Mrs Phua, whose daughter is studying at CHIJ Primary School (Toa Payoh).
.
"If (The Sunday Times) wants to stick to its comment, they should clarify who their sources are."
"

May i also add that by stating something like we're "easy when it comes to the opposite sex" is akin to asking for a punch in your face.

Sick sad little world.

As an IJ girl (10 effing fabulous years mind you), i can vouch that we don't even come this close as described by the stupid singapore encylopedia. We are loud, we're motormouths, we can't stop talking and bitching, we love drama and literature. We play and get wild when we have to, but at the end of the day, we still hit the books and we get the grades we want. We wear the belts low, our skirts are show (but not micro mini short skirts). Now tell me, do you think you'll ever look cool with your pants high up at your waist? Which teenager doesnt wanna appear as cool. Tsk

And honestly, i think all it takes is a couple of black sheep to tarnish the good name of the school. I'm not saying we're all pure and pious and nun-like. Sure, there are some rebellious ones, who go ard spewing vulgarities and stuff. But a handful of these girls aren't representative of the entire IJ population. It's plain biased isn't it?

I'm glad the chairperson of CHIJ had spoken up. She made some extremely good points. See, and it goes to show that we're outspoken, we can defend ourselves, and we're definitely not wild and brainless like what others had perceived us to be.

Sudan man forced to 'marry' goat

"A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he was caught having sex with the animal.

The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders.

They ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi.

"We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together," Mr Alifi said.

Mr Alifi, Hai Malakal in Upper Nile State, told the Juba Post newspaper that he heard a loud noise around midnight on 13 February and immediately rushed outside to find Mr Tombe with his goat.

"When I asked him: 'What are you doing there?', he fell off the back of the goat, so I captured and tied him up".

Mr Alifi then called elders to decide how to deal with the case.

"They said I should not take him to the police, but rather let him pay a dowry for my goat because he used it as his wife," Mr Alifi told the newspaper."

This is so damn hilarious!

Nostalgia

Yesterday, when my dad told us that he'll be bringing us to this place where we used to eat very often, back when we were young kids, i was so excited!
This really special place, located along one of the roads, just beside SIM sells great home cooked dishes. Their speciality? Paper wrapped chicken.

Don't expect anything posh nor quaint. It is a simple, kampung-like and very very traditional place.

Is this retro or what?
translation: 纸包鸡
chicken wrapped in paper
This metal bowl is for you to throw the paper and bones

So farm- like.

Honestly, the place hasn't changed a bit despite 2 decades. The plates they used were the same, so were the teacups. The place has not undergone any sorta renovation, the carpark still very sandy. I expected it to be tarred though. Everything is still the same. The taste of the food. Yum. Heavenly. My favourite oyster sauce noodles, and those chicken. I missed those days when i was a 5 yr old kiddo, my parents brining me there, my brother was still in a stroller.
Such fond memories back when i was still living at bukit batok, i attended kindergarten at holland v, i took organ classes at chip bee garden. Holland V cold storage was my favourite place, because they had mini trolleys for kids.

Sigh.

On a lighter note, lately, i realised i have this obsession with skin care products. Last week i bought a moisturizer, and this week is not any different. I got myself.....

$26.50 for this puny tube of Fancl Eye Cream
Why eye cream you ask? That's because the first sign of ageing that is noted, is usually ard the eyes. I'm talking about crow's feet aka wrinkles. And plus, you don't need those sickening dark circles/puffiness around your eyes. So there. Currently, i'm using Garnier's eye lightening cream. Two words: It sucks.
And my first liquid/water proof eyeliner from Maybelline.
I hate those pencil ones though. They always smudge.

Next week, or when pay day comes, I might consider buying some collagen. TO DRINK.

Wah, i'm a changed person.
I'm all about beauty & health now.

What happened to the old me???

New Stuff

Picture taken using my Nokia 1.3megapix camera. Nice eh?

This is what i got from the Book sale at expo. After combing half the hall for almost 45 mins. What a steal huh. Such a pity, i had to limit myself to a couple of books, instead of the usual 10-15 books, that's because my book shelf is packed, and about to collapse anytime.
I found a book on running. yeah, pretty much into running and gym these days.

Also, got myself a free Xbox 360. Not feel all that elated about it. It was free, so i just take lor.

And, a new wisdom tooth just started to grow on my lower jaw.

So, my friend les got into a car accident. The car flipped, windows shattered. And the thing is, he got away unscathed. Not a single scratch. Is that a miracle or what? Sometimes, i think life is all part of God's plan. Some ppl die mysteriously, like a cardiac arrest out of no where, while others can actually survive a car flip without a single injury [if you drink don't drive, if you drive don't drink]

Everything is all fated lah. Love life included.
At first, i didn't understand why god had to make me go through shit and misery. Alas, i've seen the light. And i'm thankful i went through that shit. If i hadn't, then i wouldnt know what better deals i've been missing out on.

xoxo

ps: tmr im going to this super old restaurant at Bukit Timah. My parents favourite haunt when we were living in the west, and i was only 4 at that time. yay!

Give Thanks

I'm thankful for a couple of things:

  1. The wonderful ppl at my workplace, who helped me out with Frozen section today, when i got tremendously stressed and broke down while cutting. (yah, think 15 mins time constraint, patient lying in OT, surgeons waiting for pathologists to report malignancy, while i had to cut the sections for pathologists to view. and think 8 consecutive specimens. Damn scrotum!)
  2. My wonderful friends who never fail to make a lousy day better.
  3. My gym/fitness buddy Jeev for the movitation (mutual motivation actually)
  4. My folks. For not being anal on a bad day.
  5. The nice aunties at work. (they bought me breakfast. aww). Such sunshines they are.
  6. Close friends, who really bother.
  7. My dad. For being him
  8. YouTube. For making me laugh
  9. (not trying to sound holy) but yeah, God. For giving me life.
See, life is not so bleak despite a bad horrible monday.
It depends on how you perceive it, and how you should be grateful for the things/ppl whom you've always taken granted for. They are significant no matter what.

Told you i always cherish things!
Maybe not things which i've been forced to let go of.
Stinks.

Hah

Another week gone by

Blogger can certainly be a bitch at times.
The damn website took donkey years to load last night, i gave up and went to bed.
Now, i've forgotten what i wanted to blog about.

Anyway, I'm feeling so queasy right now, like all the flatulence and shit. Urgh. Antacids!!!

So, Jeevan asked me out for supper, together with the gang. At first i agreed, but now, i'm feeling too tired and queasy to go. And if it's gonna be prata, all the more i won't go.

I've been busy working my ass off at the gym. Haha. Sounds like a joke to you? Well, it is true. I hit the gym at least 3 times a week, doing 40 intensive mins of cardio, which includes running on the treadmill at an insane speed of 9.5, and working out on the cross trainer at an insane level of 10. I know i sound mad. But hey, i'm pretty chuffed with myself. My stamina has definitely improved, and i've discovered that the 'mind over matter' theory is indeed true.
I don't know whether i've lost weight. Or maybe i have, i'm not sure, cuz my face seems less chubby as compared to gross graduation day. Gawd. Like i always say, weight, like age is only a number.
I'm not really bothered by this thing called weight. As long as i like what i see in the mirror, it's good enough for me.

Well, things are going quite okay in the hospital. It's not like one of those bank/desk boundjobs i had, whereby i dragged myself out from my, i cursed every damn Monday, i pulled my hair out,. Heh. In fact, i love the ppl at my work place.
I've got a stupid plaster on my left pinky. Some stupid cut which i got mysteriously. Hence, i'm keep making tonnes of typo errors.

TGIF

It's Saturday tmr!
I can't wait till X'mas!
*beams*

p/s: I've got one wisdom tooth growing at my lower jaw.
