23
This is not a review on the the recent movie The Number 23.
But instead, it's about me!
Happy Birthday to me!
This year's celebration was better than what i had expected. I usually hate birthdays because i don't know what i'lll be doing on that day, or whom i'll be spending it with. More often than not, i usually get so paranoid about having to spend my birthday by myself like a loser.
Anyway, on the eve of my birthday celebration, i hung out with my sydney friends. We had such a ball of time. From dinner at some Ramen restaurant to clubbing at St James Power Station. I found a new love ie St James Power Station. It's not your typical Zouk/MOS-like club. When ppl say they go to St James to club, i don't think they meant clubbing per se. Well, the thing about St James is that, there's so much more entertainment value than any of the other clubs i've visited. Instead of mindless, never-ending trance mixes, what you get are excellent live bands performing at different arena. You have the canto-pop arena which plays cheena JJ Lin songs + ahpek Thai songs, followed by techno; there's an arena for trance/house.whatever. I can't tell the difference, there's also a latin/salsa arena. And last but not least, a place which played decent music ie: Boiler Room. For a moment, i felt like i was clubbing in Walas. The band was pretty good so to speak. They played a wide genre of songs from rock to retro to bubblegum pop. All in the great name of fun. It also felt like i was attending a gig. Me standing right in front of the stage, with the amplifers driving me almost half deaf.
It was a terrific experience nonetheless, considering it was only $15!. The best part: I didn't have to feel like one of the sardines in a can. There's definitely ample space to walk and dance. The crowd however is unlike what you usually see at zouk. You can tell ppl there are from the working class. Hence, i fit in. Haha. One day, i willl drive there with my mazda....RX8!
Birthday dinner with the folks was better than usual. No more typical Long Beach seafood, or NYDC or Marche. My mum suggested the Esplanade, and we settled for dinner at Harry's. They have pretty good food. I had tenderloin steak. Heh. And guess who was performing at the waterfront? EIC, together with Shirlyn from The UnXpected. Cuz i think it was a launch of her new debut or something. Quite my lucky day huh, good food coupled with great music. And then i had a Belgian Waffle from Max Brennar. Talk about guilt. Eeks.
Last but not least, i would like to thank everyone who wished me on my special day. Those relentless smses that keep coming in really made my day. To those those whom i haven't met or haven't spoken for yonks, but still wished me, i truly appreciate it alot. All of you still have a place in my heart. Awww.
And to my goood friends, thanks for the overseas smses and calls. I love you guys!
And my folks for that excellent Strawberry Cheesecake from Spinelli's.
Big hugs and kisses to you guys.
These songs are dedicated to all of you! And both they're titles are called 23
Right now, i've got my M9 to study for. Exams in a week's time. How not to feel stressed? I can finally be a student again until May. So whoever wants to ask me out to study, feel free to do so.
