I've been sighing way too much lately.
I'm getting a little stressed at work. Stressed over minor mistakes.
Like, missing out one slide while packing or having to re-section my specimens, because it wasn't all that well cut. I've been suffering from some short term memory or sort. Ask me what i did at work yesterday, or what speciemens i handled, i swear i can't rem a shit. This is so nerve wrecking.
Working in the lab has its pros and cons.
The #1 rule of thumb is, there is no room for errors. Yes i know. Each time i do something, i'm overwhelmed with paranoia, like..pls double check, make sure there's no mix up (or else, face the dreaded consequences after the prognosis) Then there's also the quality of our fruit of labour. Everything has to be in tip top quality. It's no wonder why i feel quite stressed sometime. It's a different sorta stress altogether. Ppl get stressed over deadlines for their project or presentation. I wouldn't say i dont' have a deadline. in fact, i do, every day is a deadline, things have to be completed by the end of the day no matter what.
Like today, one of the pathologists complained that he saw a section of a polyp on an appendix section. And he was pretty confused, then it turned out that, while i was sectioning the appendix (btw, sectioning is not an easy feat, try cutting something at 4 microns with a microtome!), then i think i accidentally jabbed the block (first time cutting mah!), so in the end, had to melt the wax again, so i can cut it proper. My colleague did the reblock, and she accidentally picked up one of the wax shavings of a polyp together with the appendix. I feel so bad, like she was trying to help me, but in the end, she got into trouble.
You can say, i'm always living in trepidation whenever im in the lab
SIGH
